IVVDC 2009 Abstract Submission

 

Please send your abstract after February 1, 2009.  The final date for sending abstracts is June 15, 2009.  You need to use the following example and template to submit your abstract.  (Only abstracts sent via email will be accepted.  Email to: ivvdc@vetmed.wisc.edu


CHECKLIST REQUIREMENTS

Follow these instructions to complete your abstract:


  1. Abstract is formatted with single spacing as a Word document.
  2. Abstract is 5 ¼" (13.5 cm) wide and 4 ½" (11.5 cm) high (margins) on an 8.5" x 11" page.  Do not put a border around the text area. Do not type abstract in a "text box".
  3. The title should be followed first by the authors, and then author affiliations.
  4. Designate with asterisk (use only an asterisk) the person who is presenting at the conference.
  5. Your abstract should be informative, containing: a) a short statement of the study's specific objective, b) a brief statement of methods, c) a summary of the results, and d) a statement of the conclusions.
  6. Abstract is font style Times New Roman, font size 10 or larger.  The
    abstract will be reduced for the "Proceedings".   Font sizes smaller than 10 become unreadable.
  7. The title and affiliation should be underlined and left justified (not centered).  The title should not be bold, italic, nor entirely in uppercase letters (See Below).
  8. Italicize only scientific words.  Do not italicize the entire title or author names.
  9. E-mail only one copy of your abstract as a Word document (not WordPerfect) or Rich Text format PC computer attachment (converted from a Mac computer document if necessary) to:  ivvdc@vetmed.wisc.edu.  Do not fax or send a hard copy of your abstract.  Please make sure the Word document opens on a PC computer before you
    e-mail it as an attachment.
  10. If a corrected abstract attachment must be e-mailed at a later time, note in the
    e-mail that it is a correction.  Also note what the correction is.
  11. A small number of oral presentations will be selected from the poster abstracts and you will be notified if your poster presentation is selected.  If you do not want to give an oral presentation please indicate that with your abstract.
  12. All oral presentations will be PowerPoint presentations.  Each section leader will be responsible for loading the PowerPoint files on the computer, and setting up the computer/LCD for the section.  Authors will be contacted if their abstract is selected for an oral presentation.  (Be sure to let us know if you don’t want your abstract considered for oral presentation)  PowerPoint presentations must be received prior to the conference.
  13. Poster boards will be provided for the Poster Sessions. The boards will be approximately 4'H by 8'W.  IVVDC does not specify a poster presentation format. Each poster presentation may use one full side of the 4'H by 8'W board. Tacks are provided. Please follow the above abstract checklist for your poster abstract format.
